Popplet Mind Map Set Up
IntroductionDuring this course you will be reading, viewing, and exploring several resources that will help you to prepare to write a job advertisement and create a video presentation. It's important that you don’t see each reading or video in isolation from one another. As a result, during the course you will use Popplet.com to create a graphic organizer that provides a visual representation of how these concepts are interrelated. Mind maps allow you to visually represent your thinking on a topic. Mind maps also use images and color to help emphasize key points. The video to the right provides four steps to creating mind maps.

PoppletAs you can imagine, there are lots of tools that you can use to make mind maps. Popplet is a relatively new online tool that allows students to easily embed multimedia (images and video) and hyperlinks into their graphic organizer using a tablet or laptop. The App costs $5.00 or you can create a free account that allows you to create five (maybe 10) popplets. The video to the right quickly shows you some of the features that Popplet offers. NOTE: I have also started to use a tool called MindMeister (https://www.mindmeister.com/). It has similar features and is a nice alternative if you'd rather not Popplet. Similar to Popplet, MindMeister really pushes its paid account but they also a free account that allows you to create three mindmaps.

DirectionsNow that we are familiar with mind maps and Popplet, it's time for you to create the mind map that you will be using in this course. Each week you will be reading/viewing course materials. You will then add what you learned to your Popplet. I created the video to the right as a way to:
You will also need to make your Popplet public and add me as a collaborator (jeredborup@hotmail.com). You can do both by clicking on the "share" button located in the top-right corner of your Popplet.
