Module 3 - Who's Teaching Online?
Introduction
You recently got an email from Ethan Brooks, the Online Learning Committee Chair, thanking you for your thoughtful blog post. He also loves the idea of using Popplet to organize your thoughts. Ethan has news from the school board. Although nothing has been finalized yet, the school district is leaning towards starting the online program by offering core courses for grades 9-12 and then gradually expanding it to younger grades and electives. Students will also have the opportunity to supplement their face-to-face courses with one or two online courses or take all of their courses through the online program. Similarly, teachers will be provided an opportunity to teach online part- or full-time. Not only that, they have decided on a preliminary name and logo for the new online learning program:
Ethan ends his email reminding you about the deadline to complete the job posting by Sept 24. Thankfully he sent you some additional instructions on what the job posting should contain and some resources that will help you to know what should be included. Now that you've read the instructions, you have a better idea of what you need to be looking for in this week's readings. Well, time's a wastin'. Let's get to work!
Activities
Activity 1: Building background knowledge and adding to your Popplet
Activity 2: Outlining the job posting
Activity 3: Sharing what you learned
